Hmm...

I wonder whether this explains a few things...

The "treatment" part is particularly interesting.

Kinda sketchy. Which part in particular?

Yes. It's a very real issue, but unfortunately since there is a lot of brouhaha about "steroids", doctors can be reluctant to initiate proper HRT. It can be important to find one that will.

They do it for women; I expect my doctor would prescribe it if he and I agreed that it would help. At the moment I'm finding that the good effects of recovering from chronic testosterone poisoning outweigh the bad.

Another option

Rather than direct hormone replacement therapy, an indirect approach can also be tried. DHEA is a precursor to testosterone and is available over the counter. For some people (not all - it depends on what the problem really is), a daily dose of 25 mg or so of DHEA helps the body produce more of its own testosterone. This avoids doctor visits, brouhaha about "steroids" and so on.

Of course, self-diagnosis and self-treatment has its own risks. But a theraputic trial (i.e. trying it to see if it makes a difference) is certainly an option.

Plenty of options if I decide to go that route. At this point I'm rather enjoying the ride; it's not at all clear that HRT would be an improvement. YMMV.
